The small print, in plain English
Privacy
We store the domain you query and publicly available evidence about that business. We record when each check is asked for, whether by a browser or an automated agent as its software describes itself, and the country, never who. We count how often AI assistants read each report, by the names they give. Cloudflare, which serves the site, counts visits without cookies; we see totals, never individuals.
Accounts. An account is for the business behind a page. We keep your name and email address until you close your account or ask us to. If you claim a business's page, we keep which page and when, the code you add to its DNS, and the details and any image you give for its report, until you close your account. If you give its email, we send that address a link to confirm it, which works once for 24 hours; we keep a scrambled copy of each link we send and when, until you close your account. We email you when that page's report changes, unless you turn alerts off on your account page.
Logging in. There are no passwords. We email you a link that works once, for 15 minutes. We store only a scrambled copy of it and delete it within a day. Logging in starts a session that lasts 30 days, or until you log out.
Cookies. We use three cookies, only to make logging in and forms work: one keeps you logged in (30 days), one protects our forms from other websites (until you close your browser), and one remembers where we just sent your link (15 minutes). None of them track you.
Limits on requests. To stop abuse, we keep a scrambled copy of your internet address, and of any email address you ask us to send a link to, for one day.
The contact form. Your message is emailed to us and is not stored on our servers. It stays in our inbox for as long as we need it to reply.
Who handles your data for us. Resend sends our emails (in Ireland); Cloudflare runs the site and forwards our email; DigitalOcean hosts the site and database (in London); Google hosts our inbox.
Your rights. You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by writing to hello@truthsignal.com. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Terms
Assessments summarise public evidence and are not guarantees. Payment never affects any business's score. Service is provided as-is.
An account is for someone acting for the business behind a page. Keep your email account secure: anyone who can read your email can log in as you. We may close an account that is misused or claims a business it does not represent. You can close your account at any time from your account page, or by writing to hello@truthsignal.com.
