## What its pages say

Quoted word for word from proton.me's own pages.

- In their own words: “Proton was born in Switzerland in 2014 when a team of scientists who met at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) decided to build a better internet where privacy is the default. Ever since it was created at CERN in 1991, the World Wide Web has revolutionized our lives. However, for many of us, the only way to benefit from the internet today is to hand over vast amounts of personal data to companies that prioritize profits over privacy.” (https://proton.me/about)
